In just three weeks, I’ll be done with one of my hard­est semes­ters of col­lege. I’m almost fin­ished with the hell of 17 credit hours that trans­lates to 7 courses includ­ing a grad­u­ate level teach­ing class and an hon­ors sem­i­nar. The semes­ter has been rea­son­able thus far since most of my classes have been project based, instead of hav­ing weekly read­ing quizzes or rou­tine home­work assign­ments. The only prob­lem with this for­mat is that they all have final projects due at the end of the semester! 

I’m of the per­sua­sion that tasks are more man­age­able in lists so what bet­ter place than a blog post! Besides, I need to see if my new MySpace Cross­post plu­gin is working.

  1. GameZombie.tv redesign (T436)
    1. When the new site launches, I’ll write a really detailed blog post about every­thing we’ve done since that’s what the webteam’s entire grade is going to be based upon. We have lots of great back­end writ­ten, but now we just need to put it all together on the frontend.
  2. Flash site (T361)
    1. I’ve cho­sen to redesign the piti­ful Yogis.com for this open-ended assign­ment. Best case sce­nario– I pitch the new site to Yogi’s for some free food and drink :)
  3. Pass­word Reminder Sys­tem (I430)
    1. Design­ing and imple­ment­ing what hap­pens when you click “For­got Pass­word?” I’m hop­ing to use the CakePHP frame­work to speed through the devel­op­ment. If any­one has any tips, I’d love to hear them!
  4. Viral Video (I310)
    1. Sounds sim­ple enough. Teams of stu­dents who’ve stud­ied new media the­ory for a semes­ter should be able to pro­duce a video that shows a thor­ough under­stand­ing of the new media and viral video con­cepts. The kicker/motivator - “Any group whose video receives 1million views will receive an auto­matic A+”. I still need to find a group :(
  5. Ped­a­gogy Paper (B599)
    1. I have to design a unit to teach for a course giv­ing ratio­nale for the plan­ning. I’m doing my unit on CSS so the con­tent is easy but the higher level ped­a­gogy stuff will be a challenge.
  6. Hon­ors Sem­i­nar Paper (H498)
    1. A sim­ple 5 page paper dis­cussing one of the sem­i­nars we heard this semes­ter. I hate writ­ing papers like this. It’s noth­ing more than a glo­ri­fied book report on some talk given months ago. I’m hop­ing Dr. Raquel Hill will lend me some notes on her Elec­tronic Vot­ing Sys­tem research.

After all of these are due, I have a physics final on the last day of finals week. There are some small home­work assign­ments also due in the next cou­ple weeks, and I’m sure I’ll have to grade assign­ments and tests for A110.

Bet­ter get to bed so I can get back to Bloom­ing­ton tomor­row to start on all of this. I want to get a good han­dle on it all so I can put some time into plan­ning for our annual Christ­mas party and secret santa!
