I have been struggling with this for a long tie, I appreciate the encouragement - it gives me hope. Maybe someoneelse will figure this out.

Hi Max - great post. I am the creator/curator of the Opera web standards curriculum, and this is an issue very dear to my heart - it is one thing to provide the learning material (as myself and my WSC authors are doing) and the course structures (as my friends over at the WaSP are doing), but it is another thing entirely getting universities to adopt such courses.

It seems like a no brainer to you and I, but there is still a lot of resistance from academia for various reasons; reading through the comments on Aarron's ALA article, quite a few people think that web standards shouldn't be taught at university level. I think they are totally wrong, but how do we get that message across.

I'd like to talk to you more about your experiences talking to people at IU about getting standards teaching adopted, and your opinions on the biggest issues. We could collaborate to help set up a guide for others trying to get standards teaching adopted at their educational institutions.
